Training Programmes
IHRM(K) offers a number of training programmes as listed below:
- Professional Education Programme:
Studies under this programme lead to award of formal qualification.
The three main courses offered under this programme are:
- Higher Diploma in Human Resources Management (a post graduate qualification)
- Diploma in Personnel Management
Both courses are examined and qualifications are awarded by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC).
For more information concerning any of the two courses, click on their respective links above.
Classes for the above courses are held in our National Bank House college, 20th Floor, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.
- Continuing Professional Development Programme:
The main objective of this programme is to provide practical skills, update knowledge and facilitate attitude change to managers who are involved in the management of people at work.
The programme is built around the core responsibilities of the HR function. The flagship of the programme is the three week HRM seminar which comprehensively covers the main responsibilities of the HR function, discussed in logical sequence, thus: Organization Structure, HR Planning, Resourcing, Training and Development, Reward Management Employee Relations, Working Environment (Health, Safety and Welfare) and Personnel Administration (i.e. HR Information System and Records).
The above seminar is then followed up with shorter seminars/workshops on topics selected for in-depth training.
Please contact us for a full listing of training seminars/workshops that you can attend.
- Enterprise Development Course for Retirees:
This is a 5 day training programme that prepares employees for retirement from paid employment.
The organizations for whom we have conducted in-house training include: Unilever Kenya, British American Tobacco, East African Breweries, Kenya Shell, Mobil, Central Bank of Kenya, ILRI and Postbank.
- Employment Separation Counselling:
This is a recently developed training programme designed to meet the urgent needs of those leaving employment for redundancy reasons. This is because for those affected, redundancy causes a personal crisis situation.
Organizations for whom we have conducted this training on an in-house basis include: Magadi Soda Co., National Christian Council of Kenya (NCCK), ILRI, Kenya Shell, DT Dobie, Caltex, British American Tobacco and ICRAF.
- Computer Skills Training:
We are in the process of establishing a computer laboratory in our college in National Bank House, 20th Floor, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi.
This laboratory will teach the basic computer skills as well as provide training packages in various aspects of HR management.
Such computer-based training is increasingly needed due to difficulties of releasing managers to attend training seminars. Consequently, this computer assisted learning will have the option of being undertaken at times convenient to individuals.
- Family and Work Seminars:
This programme falls under the category of special training programmes and it is conducted by Mrs. Jane Kiura, a very experienced family life educator, consultant and counsellor.
The training mainly focuses on relationships within the family, including issues related to couples, adolescents and young adults.
