About the Institute
1. WHO WE ARE
The Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) (formerly Institute of Personnel Management, Kenya) was registered on 30th July 1987 as an autonomous non-profit making professional body. Our members, both individual and corporate, come from the public as well as the private sectors of the economy. The Institute Governing Council, which is the policy making body, consists of 21 directors who are elected at the annual General Meeting. The Council operates through seven committees. An Executive Director heads the secretariat and the Head Office is situated on 13th floor, National Bank Building on Harambee Avenue, Nairobi. The Institute has two branches, in Coast and Western Kenya. Our college, which offers Human Resources Management courses, is situated on 20th Floor, National Bank Building, Harambee Avenue.
2. OUR MISSION
As the professional body of Human Resources Management practitioners in Kenya, the mission of IHRM is to effectively develop, promote and regulate the human resource management profession in Kenya. The agents for pursuit and accomplishment of this mission are the HRM practitioners. To prepare them for this role the Institute seeks to raise their standard of professional competence and conduct through training, and other development programmes.
3. OUR OBJECTIVES
- To develop and maintain professional standards of conduct and competence of HR Practitioners.
- To serve as a forum for members for exchanging views through conferences, seminars and meetings.
- To collect and disseminate information related to Human Resources Management.
- To establish and maintain library resource centers for education materials including books, journals and films.
- To encourage research in the field of Human Resources Management.
- To present a national view point on Human Resources Management matters.
- To establish and develop links with other bodies which are concerned with Human Resources Management.
