BREAKING NEWS – 3RD READING OF THE HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS BILL, 2012
Dear Members,
BREAKING NEWS – 3RD READING OF THE HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS BILL, 2012
I am delighted to inform you all that the Human Resource Management Professionals Bill has this morning undergone the 3rd and final Reading in Parliament. The next step is for the Bill to go for Presidential assent before it becomes law.
As you may all be aware, the Bill is anchored on the following four pillars:
- National Registration of HR Professionals
- National Certification of HR professionals
- Issuance of HR Practicing Licences
- National Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics
I am strongly persuaded that the advent of the Human Resource Management Professionals Act will transform the HR profession in Kenya. Indeed, this will be a fantastic development to raise the profile of the Institute and HR practitioners in the country. Indeed, I trust that you will all agree with me that this will be a key milestone that will certainly usher in the HR profession in the league of other professions in Kenya.
As we await ‘the next steps’ in this exciting journey, I would like to take this early opportunity to thank the Executive Director, Samson Osero, and his team at the Secretariat for their efforts and dedication without which the Bill would not have seen light of day. I thank also all the people who have played one role or another in delivering this great milestone!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!
Regards,
PAUL KASIMU
CHAIRMAN, IHRM GOVERNING COUNCIL
