Individual Membership
CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP
There are several classes of membership of the Institute, each related to a prescribed level of qualification and experience. The following are the main classes
i) Fellows
Human Resources Directors and Managers with more than 15 years study and experience and have rendered outstanding service to the profession of human resource management.
ii) Full Members
Human Resource Managers/Officers who are academically professionally qualified and have more than 5 years experience in human resource management at senior positions.
iii) Associate Members
Those persons who are academically/professionally qualified and are currently employed in human resource management with at least 3 years working experience.
iv) Student Members
Such students as studying or undergoing courses relating to human resource management development.
v) Affliate Members
These are persons holding appropriate qualifications but lack the experience reference required for the other membership categories.

HOW TO APPLY FOR INDIVIDUAL MEMBERSHIP
Forward a completed application form to the IHRM secretariat at the address shown on the cover of this brochure. The membership committee meets monthly to consider and approve application for membership and promotion to higher classes of membership. The decision of the committee is immediately communicated to applicants.
Successful applicants are advised of the payments required which must 1: received within a period of three months otherwise the approval ceases t be valid. The applicant does not become a member of the institute until he/she has made the required payments.
After making the payments, the member receives a membership certificate. No payment should accompany the application form because the fees become payable only after the application has been approved and the applicant advised the payment required on the basic of the class of membership approved.

MEMBERSHIP AND SUBSCRIPTION FEES
These are revised from time to time. The schedule of current fees will be attached to the membership application form schedule of subsequently revised fees will be readily forwarded on request.
ANNUAL RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP
Membership runs from January to December. A prorate fee is payable to membership taken out after January. Annual subscription fee becomes due on 1st January each year. On renewal of membership by payment of an annual subscription fees, members receive a card that confirms current validity of their membership. Otherwise, their membership certificates ceases to be valid.
